Fight flu
Fighting the Flu: Attendance Letter
Published: Sun, Feb 11, 2018, 10:01AM CST

CISD continues to see an increase in absences due to flu and flu-like illness.

  • CISD Health Services is monitoring these illnesses in our district and communicates frequently with Custodial Services to ensure our campuses receive thorough, necessary cleanings.
  • CISD understands that recovery from the flu and other illnesses often takes several days.
  • The state does require the district to send parents a mandatory email notice after three unexcused absences within a four-week period in order to combat truancy, especially in secondary students. However, please note that all unexcused absences will be corrected in the parent portal once a note is received after a student returns to school.
  • A child who is sick cannot learn effectively and is unable to participate in a meaningful way.
  • Keeping a sick child at home prevents the spread of illness in the school community and allows the child an opportunity to rest and recover.
  • Click here for more information on health attendance guidelines https://www.coppellisd.com/Page/8445
  • The actions of students and staff also can help prevent or slow the incidence of flu: According to the CDC, the first line of defense is getting the flu shot. Other preventative measures include covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands and keeping sick people away from others.

  • Last night, your 7th grade girls basketball teams competed against the Carroll Dragons in what is quite possibly one of the most intense nights seen on our home court.

The C team fought hard and came up short with a final score of 24 to 25. High scorers and players of the game were Madison Travis and Emily Goetting, each contributing 8 points to the overall score.

The B team blew away the Dragons with a final score of 31-15. High scorer was Kate McAhren with 11 points. Players of the game are Taylor Young and Peyton Mundhenk for their aggressive defense and team play.

The A team game ended up going in to double overtime, with the Cougars securing the final win when Sabina Frosk sunk a 3 pointer to end the sudden death overtime. High scorers were Sabina Frosk and Reagan Engler, each scoring 10 points a piece. Player of the game goes to all 9 A team players last night. From the bench to the floor, each athlete played an integral role in last night’s success.

Congratulations, 7th grade girls basketball! You showed heart and hustle last night and have made some huge strides in your level of play so far this season!

CMSN Families!

On behalf of our wonderful librarians Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Henke, as well as myself, I’d like to thank so many people for making our first book fair of 2017-2018 one of the most successful ones here at North! So many people contributed to this, including several parent volunteers, many students from “The Force,” and of course the countless shoppers!!!

Thanks to so many of you, our library will be receiving a check in the amount of $1,290.76, which will definitely be put to good use.

We still have one more book fair, which will be held next spring, so be sure to keep your eyes open for updates sometime after Spring Break.

Again, thank you for your support!!!!
