  • Last week, the CMSN Girls’ Basketball teams took on the Grapevine Ponies in the first game of 2018.
7th grade played the ponies on Wednesday, January 10th, and all three teams came away victorious.
B team started out the night strong, defeating GMS with a score of 29-7. They showed great improvement on their defense and adjusting to new press break plays throughout the game. High scorers of the game were Tara Thomas and Kate McAhern, both with 6 points. Addison Hesse was also chosen as a player of the game for her tight defense.
A team continued the victory streak with their game, winning with a score of 33-21. Reagan Engler had highest scoring game of the season with 12 points. Sabina Frosk was close behind with 10 points.
C team capped the night with a solid win, walking away victorious with a score of 28-6. High scorer of the game was Destiny Wang with 9 points. Lauren Donovan and Madison Travis were also chosen as players of the game for their intense defense.
8th grade matched up against Grapevine on Thursday, January 11th, and although the fought a hard battle, only one team came away victorious at the end of the night.
B team began the battle with a tough loss with a score of 10-21. High scorer was Adalina Romo with 4 points. Kate Jones was chosen as player of the game for her hustle and support of her teammates.
A team fought hard against the Ponies, but GMS walked away with the win. The score was 19-29. Rhyan Pogue was the high scorer with 8 points, and Emma Harper was close behind her with 6 points.
C team was the only North team of the night to walk away with a victory, and an exciting one at that! The Cougars beat the Ponies with a score of 27-25. Their coach expressed her pride in how the whole team played. Natasha Bonfiglio was the high scorer of the game with 10 points. Lauren Sutton was also chosen as a player of the game for her hustle and her aggressive and clean defense.
North will take on West this week in a cross-town showdown. 7th grade plays TONIGHT at West MS, and 8th grade plays this Thursday at West MS as well. Go Cougars!
  • Calling all Garden Club members: Please come to Mrs. Walsh’s room, B113, at the start of e-time TODAY for a quick Yearbook photo. You’ve all worked so hard, I would hate for anyone to be left out (this includes anyone who worked on it both this year and last.)
  • It’s that time of year again! Mrs. Politz, Mrs. Kirk, and Coach Wright will be plunging into freezing water on Saturday, January 27th, to help raise money for Coppell Special Olympics. Please support the North Plungers as they jump into icy, cold water! Any amount helps, and you can donate to Coach Wright, Mrs. Politz, or Mrs. Kirk any time before the plunge!
  • If you are interested in the Number Sense math UIL event, we will have tryout testing this Friday during eTime in room A 211 with Mrs. Kirk. There will only be one additional tryout testing session after school Monday, January 22nd at 3:40, also in Room A211. For consideration you must attend one of these sessions.
  • UIL Chess team please meet with Coach Wright on Friday during E Time in room B204.

Wednesday, January 17th

  • Greetings from your Student Council and National Junior Honor Society!
Everyone has been doing an awesome job celebrating #NewYearKinderMe. Last week, the teachers at North tweeted out their own commitments for kindness. Some of our favorites were:
Ms. Kirby, who said “I will show patience and recognize the little things”.
Ms. Bertolino wrote that she will say “I GET to…instead of…I HAVE to” more often
And Mrs. Keen who said she will praise learners more on showing kindness to their peers.
Overall, Coach Roberts had one of the best ways to show more kindness in her tweet. She simply wrote “SMILE”. Coach Roberts, that’s great advice and you’re the winner of our Starbuck’s giftcard!
Students: check out the cafeteria windows today during lunch to see your commitment cards and others. NJHS and STUCO will be posting them all up TODAY.
  • Choir popcorn!
Choir popcorn is back! We will be selling popcorn after school in front of the cafeteria for one dollar! These are different sized bags than what we have had in the past, but it is still the same delicious popcorn. Come grab a bag of Chocolate, Vanilla or Carmel popcorn on Thursday’s after school for one dollar and support the choir!

On behalf of our wonderful librarians Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Henke, as well as myself, I’d like to thank so many people for making our first book fair of 2017-2018 one of the most successful ones here at North! So many people contributed to this, including several parent volunteers, many students from “The Force,” and of course the countless shoppers!!!

Thanks to so many of you, our library will be receiving a check in the amount of $1,290.76, which will definitely be put to good use.

We still have one more book fair, which will be held next spring, so be sure to keep your eyes open for updates sometime after Spring Break.
